We're also going by the year of its PC release, rather than when it came out on consoles, too. Why have we made such arbitrary rules for ourselves, you might ask? Well, that's because these Time Capsules aren't intended to be definitive best games of the year lists, but rather the games that hold important lessons for the future - and I'd argue that 2016's Skyrim SE is a much better artefact to preserve than the 2011 original. Will it make the cut in 2016's Time Capsule? Who knows! I am very excited to find out when we eventually get there. I mean, seriously, would you really recommend vanilla Skyrim from 2011 over 2016's Special Edition? We've included the original 2011 release of one of these games in this month's Time Capsule, but there's another notable exception we've decided to save for further down the line. In hindsight, it's a bit of an interesting year for Time Capsuling purposes, as we're now getting to the point where games from this era are getting their own remakes and remasters, or fancier, super duper director's cut special editions. Update your cracked game to the latest version either by torrents or direct downloads When you play a cracked game make sure that Origin is not active on your computer. It's been a hot minute since we last gathered round the RPS Time Capsule vault (thanks, Gamescom), but at long last we have returned with another cracking year of PC games to preserve: 2011. Go to the folder of your data directory, C:\User\your username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and delete the file GameVersion. Ignore that message and do the following: Please update your game via Origin to play. The contents of your user data directory were created by a new version of The Sims 4 and cannot be loaded. When you open the Origin based game, Origin will try and update that game to the latest version which might not correspond with the cracked version, resulting in an error message such as Unable to start: Use the Origin based game only for access to the Gallery, Play with the cracked version You can safely download from the Gallery via the Origin based game but NEVER EVER save an Origin- game because items from cracked DLC’s will get lost !
